SARGODHA: A tragic gas cylinder explosion took the lives of seven individuals and left 14 others wounded on Saturday near the Government College of Commerce in the Bhalwal tehsil of Punjab’s Sargodha district, as confirmed by rescue officials.
The distressing incident was reported by the Rescue 1122 Control Room, which highlighted that seven casualties occurred immediately upon the explosion, while 14 victims sustained injuries. Among the injured, seven are reported to be in a critical condition and were immediately transported to the Bhalwal Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital. Five of the deceased could not be identified and their remains have also been moved to the THQ Hospital for further procedures.
The incident was reported to have occurred at 8:35 am. Rescue 1122, showcasing their dedication and efficiency, responded within seven minutes. The response team included nine ambulances, three fire-fighting vehicles, and a specialized rescue vehicle to manage the situation. Initial findings suggest that the tragic event was due to a gas leak from the Hiace vehicle’s Liquified Petroleum Gas cylinder, operated by Gara Brothers’ Transport.
Among the injured are two young children aged four and 12, and two elderly individuals in their 50s.
